Profound gratitude for the extraordinary care

I am writing to express my profound gratitude for the extraordinary care my nephew recently received at Good Samaritan University Hospital following a horrific e-bike accident. While such events are every family’s worst nightmare, the caliber of the team at your institution provided us with immense comfort and hope.

The care he received in the SICU has been nothing short of phenomenal. From the compassionate nursing staff and the diligent Physician Assistants to the trauma leadership of Dr. Diaz and Dr. West, every individual involved has exceeded our highest expectations.

We are particularly grateful for the swift, life-saving intervention of Dr. Symeon Missios. On the night of the accident, when my nephew’s epidural hematoma began to expand, Dr. Missios was at the bedside immediately. His ability to explain the urgency of the situation with both clarity and compassion was remarkable. Within an hour, my nephew was in the operating room for a craniotomy. Dr. Missios’s surgical skill saved his life, and his personal phone call to me immediately following the procedure provided our family with the reassurance we so desperately needed.

Additionally, I want to commend Dr. Cristina Dracea for her incredible work on my nephew’s extensive facial fractures. She performed a complex surgery flawlessly, taking the time to walk us through every step of the recovery process. Seeing my nephew sitting up and eating today—just one day after such extensive surgery—is truly a testament to her expertise.

The level of care we witnessed is a reflection of the hard work poured into making Good Samaritan a premier university hospital, and it is undoubtedly a testament to your leadership.

My Husband has made a Full Recovery

I hear you saying Merry Christmas last year, and that indeed was and always will be the best Christmas for me. My husband has made a full recovery after suffering a major stroke the afternoon of Christmas Eve. Dr. Missios was referred to me by Dr. Mayerson at St. Catherine’s and it proved to be a fantastic, successful referral! Dr. Missios spent a half hour explaining my medical condition to me and what needed to be done surgically. He even deferred to a skull base tumor surgeon Dr. Klironomos at South Shore University to lead the excision of my acoustic neuroma. On the day of my 12 hour surgery, Dr. Missios assisted Dr. Klironomos and was there in the OR with me. He is such an empathetic and intelligent doctor and competent surgeon. Highly recommend!

My husband was in such severe pain that he could not lay down,

he could not walk, he could do nothing. After trying numerous procedures with PT, chiropractic, and pain management we went to see Dr Missios. He performed major surgery and it was a miracle. Within two weeks my husband was back to normal. We cannot thank him enough. Not only is Dr Missios an excellent surgeon but he has a wonderful bedside manner. He consistently demonstrates how much he cares. It has been less than two months since the surgery and my husband has no pain nor limitations. I would recommend Dr Missios to anyone experiencing back pain. Skip the pain management and the epidurals as that doesn’t cure, it only temporarily alleviates some pain but not for long, if at all.

I walked into the ER

Dr. Missios is one of the best neurosurgeons I have ever met and I have met a lot being in the neurosciences medical field as a RN.

I had spine surgery about 2.5 years ago with Dr Missios after 25 years of debilitating lower back pain. I went to the ER on a Saturday night with the most severe lower back pain and not being able to urinate. I ended up with a Foley catheter and a STAT spine MRI. Radiology had to come from home to scan me because MRI isn’t open 24/7. I had a huge bulging disc sitting on the sciatic nerve. Dr Missios was the neurosurgeon on call for the weekend and he came in to operate on me that Sunday morning due to the fact that my bladder and bowels were being severely affected by the disc. I was extremely nervous, understandingly. Dr Missios treated me like a daughter. He was also in constant communication with my mom who was extremely concerned for me. Dr Missios’ PA’s were all great as well. The whole neurosurgery department bent over backwards for me the whole time I was at the hospital. I was completely satisfied with everything and I owe my life to that man. I had a lot of specific requests when it came to my after care and he happily obliged. I still suffer with some lower back pain but it is so much better and manageable, and I got my quality of life and happiness back. I recommend Dr Missios 100%. Thank you Dr Missios.
